Farmer Boopathy from Vaniyambadi came and met me in the office on Friday morning.

He cultivates lemon.
Has 3 acres
1 acre can hold 4 plants
500 plants
Can harvest 15 to 20 bags one week | one bag: 800 or 1000 lemons
big: Rs.4/- per lemon
average: Rs.2/- per lemon
15 days shelf life
Lemon is a very different crop - like coconuts - like humans.
It is a 15 year plant and has to be taken good care of for the first three years.
after 3rd year, it will start yielding
2000 lemons from one plant in one year: 1000 good, 1000 average lemons
6months once:
Rs.30,000/- for 4 acres: urea
Rs.6000/- for one year: pesticides
Kalai edukkarathu: Rs.15,000/-
One week: 15,000 lemons possible by him in his 3 acres.
He had brought about 50 small and 50 large lemons with him. I paid him Rs.450/- for everything and got them all.
Distributed the big ones to the staff and small ones - sold a few and distributed samples to others.
He said he will connect his kids who know how to send message on whatsapp and also how to provide bank details.
We have to find out ways for transporting from there to here.

He spent 3L Bore 1200 ft - average water
He also has about 450 plants which he is selling.
He gets Rs.200/- one plant - for sale.
1 plant; approximate Rs.1000/- expense for maintenance yearly.
